WJC shocked, outraged at news of discovery of bodies of 3 abducted Israeli teens

JERUSALEM/NEW YORK – News that the three Israeli teenagers kidnapped by terrorists on 12 June 2014 from a hitchhiking point in Gush Etzion near the West Bank city of Hebron were murdered was met with shock and outrage by the leaders of the World Jewish Congress (WJC). WJC President Ronald S. Lauder said the thoughts of the entire international Jewish community were with the families of Naphtali Fraenkel, Gilad Sha’ar and Eyal Yifrach. The bodies of the three were discovered on Monday near Hebron.
The three bodies were found by security forces in a field northwest of Hebron on Monday afternoon. Police forensics officers were called to the scene to confirm the identities of the bodies. The discovery came after Israel's inland security service Shin Bet focused its efforts in the area over the past two days during searches for the three abducted Israeli teens.
Israeli authorities have evidence that the abduction was done by members of the Islamist Hamas movement, which runs the Gaza Strip and recently entered into agreement with Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas’ Fatah group.
“We are beyond shocked, outraged and heartbroken by these despicable murders. Once again, Hamas has revealed its true colors: This group blatantly disregards human life, and it doesn’t even refrain from hijacking innocent teenagers. Those who committed this heinous crime must be hunted down and brought to justice.
"Clearly, Hamas is a terrorist organization, and it must be dismantled, and it is the responsibility of Mahmoud Abbas to remove all Hamas-linked officials from his government immediately and fight terrorism vigorously and urgently. Abu Mazen must show leadership now,” Lauder declared.
He also urged the international community, and in particular the United States and the European Union, to halt all financial support for the Palestinian Authority until Hamas is excluded from all government bodies. “This murder must spur the world into action, and the fight against fanatic, extremist groups such as Hamas must be stepped up urgently,” said the WJC president.
European Jewish Congress Calls on EU to Cease all Contact with Hamas Unity Government of Palestinian Authority
(Brussels, Tuesday, July 1st 2014) - The European Jewish Congress expresses its deep sadness and horror at the discovery of the bodies of the three abducted Israeli teenagers, Eyal Yifrach, Naftali Frenkel and Gil-ad Shear, in the Hebron region on Monday.
We send our sincere condolences to their families, loved ones and to all the people of Israel.
"Once again, the true face of Palestinian terror groups and their callous disregard of human life and targeting of innocent victims displays in full force the daily threats encountered by the State of Israel and all its citizens," EJC President Dr. Moshe Kantor said.
Throughout these difficult days as the search continued in vain to find the boys alive, there were incessant slogans and comments of support for the kidnapping coming from senior leaders of Hamas and other groups which are full participants in the new government of the Palestinian Authority.
The European Jewish Congress calls upon the European Union to immediately cease all support, funding and political contact of and with the new government of the Palestinian Authority until it suspends the agreement with Hamas.
We further call on the EU to end its praise of the purported unity agreement between Fatah and Hamas which is nothing less than an appeasement of terror organisations which are supposedly officially recognised as such by the European institutions.
Neither the cause of Middle East peace nor the protection of young lives are served by this perpetual apology for Islamist fundamentalism, terror and extremism which threatens not only Israel, but the whole of the Middle East region and indeed, the continent of Europe itself.
The EJC is the democratically-elected representative organisation of European Jewry.
SIG und PLJS bestürzt über Mord an drei israelischen Jugendlichen
Der SIG und die PLJS sind über den brutalen Mord an den drei am 12. Juni entführten israelischen Jugendlichen Gilad Shaar, Naftali Frenkel und Eyal Yfrach zutiefst bestürzt. SIG und PLJS teilen die Trauer der Familien der drei jungen Opfer und sprechen ihnen ihre tief empfundene Anteilnahme aus.
Die beiden Dachverbände verurteilen diese schreckliche Tat und geben der Hoffnung Ausdruck, dass die Täter bald gefasst werden. Die Solidarität der Schweizer Juden gilt dem israelischen Volk.

FSCI et PJLS sont atterrées par l'assassinat des trois jeunes israéliens
La FSCI et la PJLS sont profondément atterrées par l'assassinat brutal des trois jeunes israéliens Gilad Shaar, Naftali Frenkel et Eyal Yfrach, ont été enlevés le 12 juin. La FSCI et la PJLS s'associent au deuil des familles des trois jeunes victimes auxquelles elles expriment toute leur sympathie.
Les deux associations faitières condamnent cet acte horrible et espèrent que les auteurs seront appréhendés rapidement. La solidarité des Juifs suisses va à la population israélienne.
