Three ultra-Orthodox were attacked on a street in Vienna

 

The Jewish community in the Austrian capital panicked after an anti-Semitic attack on a central street in the city, during a week in which a proposal was made to restrict the purchase of kosher meat to Jews who would be registered in a special database. Austrian Jews were in a panic after three ultra-Orthodox Jews were attacked today in the streets of Vienna by a Muslim immigrant. This is in the midst of government moves that are also of great concern

"Another ultra-Orthodox man who saw the attack rushed to help the tourist, and was also attacked by the immigrant, another ultra-Orthodox called on police to ask him to follow the immigrant to find him, while the haredi continued to follow him. "We demand that our government protect most of the defense, and that in 2018 Jews will be afraid to walk in the street with a skullcap," he said.

Austria's ambassador to Israel, Martin Weiss, also spoke with Behadrei Haredim about the attack in Vienna. "The struggle against any kind of anti-Semitism - in its old form or its new form - is the top priority of the Austrian government," Weiss said.

"There is zero tolerance for anti-Semitism - attacks on members of the Jewish community will be dealt with at the full force of the law ... Austria today is a very safe country - we will do everything to preserve it." Jewish life in Austria must be secure and must be able to continue to flourish.

As noted, the Haredi community in Austria is currently facing difficult problems and challenges. Last week, the extremist and fascist Freedom Party offered to allow Jews to buy kosher meat - only if they were registered in a special names database.

According to the proposal, only those registered in the Jewish database will be allowed to buy kosher meat, and they will have to specify how many pounds of meat they consume. According to the party, this does not stem from anti-Semitism, but rather from concern about "animal sorrow."
